A Villeroy & Boch vase from the Faience factory in Dresden, Germany. The factory in dresden existed from 1856 to 1949.
After the second world war the factory was expropriated many production documents were lost during this period.

 

This is a rare piece in the collection of Villeroy & Boch, Mrs. Schneider Ester of the Villeroy & Boch ceramic museum, confirms the provenance and knows of 1 similar piece in transparent glaze, the museum itself does not own a similar piece.

 

The vase was made between 1925 and 1929, marked at the bottom with the Villeroy & Boch sign, which was used from the end of the 19th century up to and including 1936/1938. The mark shows the 'D' of Dresen in Art Nouveau initials with a V and B incorporated.
